Underrated as a province to see and appreciate fall colours, BC has a myriad of places to enjoy some stunning foliage at this time of year. While things may be a little more understated here than in the East, we are lucky enough to experience the colours for longer and later in the season. From Vancouver’s urban parks to the Kootenay Rockies, the changing autumn colours in BC are a great excuse to get out and about this month. It isn’t even necessary to leave the Okanagan to experience some awesome fall colours; here are my close to home favourites as well as a couple a little further afield.

Past buying the basics, there is also relatively little maintenance needed to continue paddling for the summers to come. Here’s our pick of the best stand up paddleboard gear out there right now.

A paddling and hiking adventure

Hidden deep in the lush valleys of Strathcona Park on Vancouver Island is spectacular Della Falls. With a total vertical drop of 440m, Della Falls is Canada’s highest waterfall. To put things into perspective, it is six times higher than Brandywine Falls near Whistler or about the same elevation as a hundred storey high rise building. Della Falls is one impressive waterfall for sure, yet it seems to be on the radar of few people. I left the Okanagan during an unseasonably unsettled June to experience this record breaker for myself to find out if Della Falls deserves more hype (spoiler: yes, it does).
